Even with the additions made on the offensive line, the New York Giants’ receiving corps, if healthy, is the deepest and most talented position group coming into training camp. The group boasts everything a team could want: speedsters, jump ball artists, big physical receivers, guys that can make one mi s in a phone booth, and tacticians in route running.Yet because of contracts and draft status, there probably won’t be a lot of openings for the coaches to choose from. Still, the Bills kept seven receivers on their active roster last season. A suming the Giants use that blueprint, there are probably three spots up for grabs if Sterling Shepard starts the season on the PUP list.Special teams will likely play a big role in who ends up with those positions, but the Giants need to focus on finding consistency and playmaking ability to round out the room.Given the variety the Giants have to choose from, the preseason will clarify who’s in and, more importantly, his role on this offense.More Position Previews:Rostered PlayersAlex Bachman (1 year): The Wake Forest grad has been on the Giants’ practice squad for a couple of seasons. With a new regime and added Diontae Johnson Jersey talent to the roster, it will be difficult for him to break through.C.J. Board (4 years): Board has spent three seasons on NFL rosters and the last two with the Giants. Although he has not been much of a factor as a receiver, he has been a valuable member of the special teams units. Even with that special teams value, he will be in a fight for the last spots in the receiver room.Keelan Do s (2 years): Do s spent two seasons on the Raiders roster and now joins the Giants as what seems to be a camp body. Over the last few seasons, he was involved with the Jaguars, Falcons, and Jets. It is difficult to imagine him making this roster.Robert Foster (4 years): Foster was an undrafted free agent out of Alabama initially signed by the Buffalo Bills. He saw some succe s as a receiver for the Bills in his first season but has not been able to build on that 500-yard three-touchdown season since. That makes his chances of making the final squad difficult.Kenny Golladay (6 years): Golladay will look to have a bounce-back season and show Giants fans why he was worth so much money as a free agent out of Detroit. He went from catching pa ses from Matthew Stafford to Daniel Jones, and the results were not great. Most chalk up the offensive ineptitude to the former staff, but Golladay is coming into a season that may decide if he is on the roster in 2023. He has all of the skills to be a dynamic number one. Giants faithful hope to see it on display.Richie James (5 years): James was originally a seventh-round pick of San Francisco. He made ten starts over three seasons with the 49ers. He primarily operated as a returner and had a 97-yard kickoff return touchdown in his rookie season. He could be an a set as a returner for the Giants.Collin Johnson (3 years): Johnson is entering his second season in New York. He was able to grab one start in 2021, but it is difficult to see how he can make this team outside of a special teams George Pickens T Shirts role, and even that will be difficult based on how many guys will be vying for a few spots.Austin Proehl (1 year): Proehl, the son of former NFL receiver Ricky Proehl, was a seventh-round selection of the Bills in 2018. He has bounced around the NFL but has not been able to latch on to a roster. This team will also prove difficult to stick with.Wan’Dale Robinson (Rookie): Robinson was a second-round pick of the Giants in this year’s draft. He is definitely in the plans for the offense as a guy who can contribute as a receiver and runner. The expectations are high for Robinson this year to be a playmaker.Sterling Shepard (7 years): Shepard is dealing with an injury, and it is not certain when he will be healthy enough to join the team. Some question if he will ever be the same. If he does return healthy, he can provide the Giants with a receiver that is great as an intermediate pa s catcher.David Sills V (2 yards): Sills is another receiver for the Giants who began with the Bills. Sills has been with the Giants since 2019 in some capacity. Some think Sills could be a part of the receiving corps, but he has to climb over some legit bodies to get there.Scroll to ContinueDarius Slayton (4 years): Slayton has come under much scrutiny over the past season for his inability to haul in critical pa ses. But there is no denying that he has the physical tools to be a great a set, T.J. Watt Jersey especially as someone who can stretch the field. The preseason will be a make-or-break time for Slayton. He needs to show improved hands.Travis Toivonen (1 year): He is a long shot to make this team, but he has a great underdog story. A former FCS product who participated in the Fan Controlled Football league Toivonen got a chance in training camp with the Seattle Seahawks. He comes to the Giants trying to make an impre sion, but it should be difficult for him to make this team.Kadarius Toney (2 years): Toney showed the explosivene s in his rookie season that made him a star at the University of Florida. He can be a deep threat, intermediate weapon, short yardage, and yards after catch weapon. He should be used in gadget plays and the screen game. Look for him to be another dynamic piece of the offense.Positional ForecastBest Case Scenario: With improved quarterback play and better health, look for this receivers unit to surprise people and become one of the most dynamic in the league that can hurt a defense at every level with multiple players. Robinson and Toney give the Giants two legitimate Buddy Johnson Jersey game breakers who can be deployed multiple ways in an offense. Slayton has the speed to fly by everyone on deep pa ses, and Golladay has a knack for turning 50/50 deep shots into 70/30 deep shots.Almost every other receiver on the roster can operate well in the intermediate pa sing game. Most have run-after-catch ability, and if the quarterback play improves this season, this group will give defenses fits. There’s no reason this team should not be led by two 1000-yard receivers or four guys with over 800 yards if the ball is distributed evenly.Worst Case Scenario: This offensive unit gets lost behind terrible quarterback play and many injuries, as it did last season. Last season Golladay was the only receiver to creep over 500 yards receiving. No other receiver was within 80 yards of that. A repeat of that would be disastrous for the Giants.Sleeper: If the Giants decide they do not want to use Robinson and/or Toney on special teams, Richie James becomes a legitimate factor in making this team. He is coming off an injury from last season, but who isn’t

EQ Transforming from Packer into a Bear
Bears offensive coordinator Luke Getsy says he saw a “transformation” in former Green Bay Packers receiver Equanimeous St. Brown last year.In order for this transformation to pay off in St. Brown’s career, it will need to be with the Packers’ rivals to the south in Chicago.”The way that his training camp went last year, where he didn’t make the team and (a month into the season he was brought back), I just saw a transformation of a guy just turn into a pro, and his mentality, the toughne s and the way he attacked every day, I was just super impre sed with how he handled that, like, adversity,” Getsy said of St. Brown, the former Notre Dame receiver who caught just 37 pa ses in three seasons on the field for the Packers. Now St. Brown is part of the refugee receiver corps GM Ryan Poles has brought in looking to win probably three or four roster spots behind rookie Velus Jones Jr.There is no doubt at 6-foot-5 that St. Brown looks the part of a receiver who can fit into this type of offense Getsy brought to Chicago from Green Bay, but he Eric Kendricks Jersey ‘s been providing something more by helping teammates learn an offense they’re unfamiliar with.”There’s little times where coaches mi s, the receivers coach might mi s and I’ll interject or give my two cents on what happened in a game or what might happen when you’re actually out there,” St. Brown said. “Sometimes I interject and help out.”In a way, Getsy sees St. Brown benefiting Bears receivers not only with his experience in the offense but also with his experience overall as someone who has bounced back when it seemed his career was taking a drastic change.”I mean, I always liked EQ and thought he was a good player and then I saw him go through that adversity and the way he handled all that stuff,” Getsy said.”That’s what these guys are leaning on. That leadership and that expereince that he went through. That’s super for us. We’re going to lean on that.”St. Brown doesn’t downplay the importance of Getsy’s arrival in Chicago with his own decision to play for the Bears as a free agent.”He contacted me right away when I was a free agent,” St. Brown said of Getsy. “So, right away the Bears were on my list of teams I wanted to go and then ultimately it came down to what’s best of me and this was the best fit.”Upon arriving in Chicago, St. Brown found another coach to like. That’s his new receiver coach Tyke Tolbert Parry Nickerson Jersey , who has a reputation for being able connect with his team’s pa s catchers.”I like him a lot,” St. Brown said. “He knows a lot about the game, not just receiver. He knows not just running routes; he knows how to block as well.”He can coach me up on that. And he knows offense really well, so far. He wont let you take plays off. He won’t let anything slide. He’s a hard coach, and I like that about him.”Scroll to ContinueOne thing the Bears obviously want to exploit on offense is Fields’ mobility. Besides just running with it, they want to see him complete pa ses on extended plays while moving out of the pocket. A player like St. Brown or even former Kansas City Chiefs receiver Byron Pringle can aid immensely in this because they’ve spent their careers playing with mobile pa sers known for such plays.St. Brown’s ability on these plays was best seen in Friday’s practice when Fields rolled right then rolled back right on the run and lofted a pa s along the sideline to St. Brown. Cornerback Kindle Vildor had good position but the pa s was perfectly thrown, high and where St. Brown could nab it with a leap and a stretch, and he scored.”That was a scramble drill,” St. Brown said. “We coach that up. Getsy does as well. We practiced it a few times in OTAs. So it was just a scramble drill. I could’ve got open better, but he put the ball in the right place and it was my job to come down with it.”Aaron Rodgers perfected these types of plays in Green Bay and Patrick Peterson Jersey St. Brown saw this first hand. It sounds as if the Bears have barely begun to touch the potential of these types of plays with St. Brown and 6-4 N’Keal Harry now po sible targers for Fields.”Honestly, we haven’t talked much about scramble drill,” St. Brown said. “We haven’t had that many opportunities at it in practice yet, but a few times it’s come up. “I think that’s something we need to work on as a team is get everyone on the same pageall the wideouts and tight ends and quarterbacks on the same page with the scramble drill.”St. Brown doesn’t come away from Green Bay feeling bitter about being unwanted in free agency, or not making last year’s team until he came back on the practices squad and then was promoted.”I’d say in Green Bay, they gave good opportunities there where if you get your opportunities you’ve got to make the most of them,” St. Brown said. “I got hurt my second year, so I got set back a little bit, but I’m back on track now and I’m ready to showcase my talent and take my game to the next level.” It’s a situation Getsy sees with all of his refugee receivers, from St. Brown to David Moore to Dante Pettis, to Tajae Sharpe and Harris.”I think all of those guys, the urgency is very high,” Getsy said. “They’re excited about the opportunity, you know, I think all of those guys their mentality and their approach, you know, probably EQ has a little bit of a head start on those guys just because he has familiarity with the system. But I am super impre sed by the way they have attacked the knowledge part of it because it’s not an easy system to just learn for a wide receiver. You’ve got a lot on your plate. “I give them credit because they’ve done a very nice job to be able to go out there and have the motions and the alignments and all of the stems that we run and that we do. It’s a lot on their plate and they’ve done a great job with it. So, I think they see an opportunity and it’s about getting that relationship with Justin and I think that will be the critical piece as we move forward.”He never did quite get that relationship going with Aaron Rodgers the way some other Packers receivers did. Now he’ll try here with Fields.”I’ll say they’re both great quarterbacks,” St. Brown said. “They’re both accurate. They’re both NFL quarterbacks and they’re good at what they do. I gotta figure out what Justin Fields likes. I had Aaron Rodgers and I knew what he liked, and Chad Greenway Jersey now I’ve gotta figure out what Justin likes.”It will make the difference between an extended career in Chicago or po sibly even winding up out of town because the receivers chart is that close in talent after the top two or three.

The countdown to regular season football is officially underway. You can feel the excitement building with a little over a week until the Bills take on the Rams. Before we prepare for the fall, here is a look at the best rookies over the summer. These players stood out above the rest at their position group throughout camp and approach the season with considerable hype. Read below to see the 2022 Preseason All-Rookie team. QB Kenny Pickett, Pittsburgh SteelersPickett earns the nod as the rookie quarterback that impre sed the most over camp. After OTA’s, it was widely reported that Pickett would be the third-string quarterback when camp opened in Latrobe. This clearly meant his chances of starting were minimal at best. However, following a promising pair of games, Head Coach Mike Tomlin noted that the starting quarterback position was up for grabs last Sunday against the Lions. This points to the growth and development of Pickett in the few short months he has been a pro. While we must remember Jake Luton Jersey the context of these exhibitions, the poise, delivery, and timing were evident on every snap Pickett took. He finished the preseason with a stat line of 29/36 pa ses completed, 261 pa sing yards, 3 TDs, 0 INTs, and a 124.7 pa ser rating. We will see how things play out in Pittsburgh, but so far, they feel good about their 20th overall pick. WR Romeo Doubs, Green Bay PackersDoubs wasn’t even the first receiver selected by his team in the 2022 NFL Draft, but he approaches the season standing above the rest of his position group. There were rumblings of his ability back in rookie minicamp, but that was taken with a grain of salt. Then came training camp scrimmages, joint practices, and live games, where his playmaking ability was quickly realized. A Cody Barton Jersey quote that best summarizes his play to this point comes from his starting quarterback Aaron Rodgers who said, “The standard for him is not going to be the standard for a normal rookie we’ve had here in the past.” Expect plenty of Doubs in 2022, with key utilization in the Packers offense. RB Dameon Pierce, Houston TexansIt didn’t take an Aeronautical Engineer to see that Pierce had the potential to be the lead back in Houston following the draft. While Head Coach Lovie Smith has yet to make any real decisions, the snap percentage and plays Pierce put together leave it fairly obvious who’s starting at tailback for the Texans. Pierce has been a staple in rookie coverage since the Senior Bowl, where his wide array of skills and physical traits were on full display. PFF graded Pierce as the highest overall running back in the preseason, regardle s of experience level. He’s the Texans’ staff, and his notable camp leaves him above Seattle Seahawks Women Jersey the rest of the rookies at his position. OL Charles Cro s, Seattle SeahawksCro s leaves the preseason allowing no sacks, but not only that, no recorded quarterback hits or even pre sures. (Via PFF) His technique was widely regarded as some of the best in the cla s and made him an easy choice for a struggling Seattle offense with the 9th overall pick. While the season is one full of unknowns in Seattle, they can be confident in their selection at tackle. DL George Karlaftis, Kansas City ChiefsKarlaftis was drafted 30th overall by Kansas City with the expectation of him being their top-edge rusher. They leave camp having full confidence in their pick thanks to an impre sive start by Karlaftis. Recording multiple sacks against first-team offensive lines in the preseason, Karlaftis was unblockable in his limited snaps. If the Chiefs are to continue their AFC run of the past few years, Karlaftis will have to be a prevailing force on the Chiefs’ defensive front. LB Jack Sanborn, Chicago BearsThe undrafted free agent from Wisconsin made sure to take advantage of his opportunities in camp. Sanborn was an overachiever in every aspect, including tackling, pa s coverage, and special teams. These are the prerequisites when you are on the edge of a roster spot in the NFL. Whether he stays with the Bears or not, expect Sanborn to find work in the NFL after his notable preseason. CB Ahmad “Sauce” Gardner, New York JetsGardner left college having not allowed a single touchdown reception in man coverage. Well, he leaves his first preseason allowing zero catches on, get this, zero targets. It’s safe to say he’s been the lockdown corner he was drafted to be at this early junction. Now that he has been named a starting corner, the real work will begin. The question is Michael Dickson Jersey , how long before Sauce lets up his first touchdown in man coverage, and to who? S Nick Cro s, Indianapolis ColtsCro s was a third-round pick out of Maryland that posted incredible measurables and functional athletism. These physical traits have lent themselves to a productive preseason where his range and ball skills have been fully displayed. Some may undervalue safety play, but having versatile, athletic playmakers enables a defense to be multiple in their scheme. This is the exact sort of athlete that Cro s is. It will be interesting to see how he is utilized in Indianapolis this year.Scroll to Continue

Could Shaquille Leonard Start the Season
Indianapolis Colts All-Pro linebacker has been on the Physically Unable to Perform list (PUP) for the entirety of the preseason .Head coach Frank Reich was asked if there’s Jackson Carman Jersey a chance Leonard could remain on the list to start the season, which would mean Leonard couldn’t participate in practices or games until after Week 4 of the regular season.”Chris (Ballard) and I have not had that exact conversation yet.” said Reich. “Based on the fact that hes really not out here yet, I gue s you would have to say thats a po sibility.””But Im not a suming that Pooka Williams Jr. Jersey thats the case.”READ MORE: Reich made it clear that even if Leonard wasn’t ready to play in games, he was hoping the PUP list wasn’t in play. He wants Leonard doing as much as he can with the team as soon as he can.Scroll to Continue”From our standpoint, we really want to get him back out there when hes cleared,” said Reich. “But even if hes not ready to play, get him out there.””And you cant get out there if youre on PUP. You cant participate Mike Thomas Jersey in anything.””So we want to get (Shaquille Leonard) participating, so at some point, even if hes not ready to play, we have to get him off PUP and get him taking reps even if it takes however many weeks it’s going to take to get him ready.”The Colts are in action on Saturday night against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers to conclude their preseason Boomer Esiason Jersey slate of games. Reich has previously stated most of the starters will see action in Tampa.Obviously Leonard won’t be one of those starters, but Reich doesn’t anticipate Leonard staying on the PUP list to begin the season. He wants his star linebacker doing as much as he can as soon as he can.

OWINGS MILLS, Md. There could be Philadelphia Eagles Golf Sporting Goods a Za’Darius Smith reunion in Baltimore. The Ravens are one of the teams pursuing the outside linebacker in the free-agent market, according to the .Smith was a salary-cap casualty in Green Bay.The move would make sense because Baltimore is in the market for a pa s rusher after finishing in the bottom third of the league for sacks last season.Smith, who was a fourth-round pick by the Ravens in 2015, also priced himself out of Baltimore in 2019 after finishing with 18.5 sacks over four seasons.Scroll to ContinueHe signed a four-year, $66 million deal with the Green Bay Packers, including a $20 million signing bonus, as a free agent in 2019.Smith managed 26 sacks in his first two seasons but dealt with injuries last year. The Packers had to get his salary off the books because he had a $27.7 million cap Philadelphia Eagles Jackets hit.Pro Football Focus’ Brad Spielberger agrees that Smith would be a good fit in Baltimore and”Smith signed a four-year, $66 million ($16.5M per year) contract with the Packers in the 2019 offseason following the expiration of his four-year rookie contract with the Ravens. Smiths final season in Baltimore saw him break out with career highs acro s the board, including his 79.3 pa s-rush grade, 60 quarterback pre sures and 10 sacks. His first two seasons in Green Bay were everything Philadelphia Eagles Accessories the Packers could have hoped for 144 quarterback pre sures and 29 sacks but he mi sed almost the entirety of the 2021 campaign to injury. Smith was reportedly unhappy with how his contract was handled prior to the season, and its po sible he would rather be outright released so he can choose his next team. However, the thinking here is he would be excited to return to the team that drafted him, and perhaps contract particulars can get sorted out at a later date. The Ravens are projected to have five fourth-round picks, including multiple compensatory picks, and theyve done a good job of flipping Day 3 selections for proven starters the past few years, such as when they acquired interior defender Calais Campbell from the Jaguars for a fifth-rounder in 2020. Campbell will be 36 years old in Week 1 of 2022, though Brian Westbrook Jersey hes shown very few signs of slowing down. Smith slots right in as a pa s-rusher who can win from anywhere along the defensive line.” This is a scenario that is something to watch in the coming days.

GREEN BAY, Wis. First-round pick Quay Walker was the first Green Bay Packers rookie to move into a starting role.Could receiver Romeo Doubs be the next? The fourth-round pick, who scored two touchdowns on Thursday, joined Allen Lazard as the only receivers on the field for the opening snap of Fridays practice.Veteran Randall Cobb has a seen a lot of receivers come and go during his time in Green Bay. What stands out about Doubs?I think the biggest piece is just ability to go get the ball when its just thrown up and its between him and the DB to go up and make a play, Cobb said after Fridays low-tempo practice. Thats one thing you cant coach. You cant really teach that; you either have it or you dont, and he has it. Thats special. Thats just a piece, though. Theres a lot that goes Landen Akers Jersey into making this team and being on this field and making an impact, but he has the tools. Its on himself and on me and our receiver group to continue to mold him and build him and help him realize what he has. Ive been very impre sed with him so far. Player of the DayFine, hes not a player, but kudos to coach Matt LaFleur for closing practice to the fans so as not to waste their time with a half-speed practice. No doubt LaFleur and his staff got plenty out of the day, but it was low on the excitement meter. Its just going to be more of a mental day and theres not a lot of just full-speed action, he said beforehand. Its more jog-through, above the neck. Were very cognizant of, when you have three days in a row, what youre doing in that third day because typically the third day is when the majority of injuries can happen. So thought it was good to kind of de-load them a little bit and then well crank it up again tomorrow. So, personally, I didn’t think itd be as much fun for the fans. Play of the DayThere were no competitive periods, but weve got a template for this story and were sticking to it. Late in the practice, Aaron Rodgers hit Amari Rodgers on a deep pa s against cornerback Rasul Douglas. The noteworthy part of it was Rodgers drew outside linebacker LaDarius Hamilton offside in a half-speed drill.A little later, Rodgers threw a short pa s to tight end Tyler Davis, who juggled the ball to serve up an interception for Douglas. The drop is irrelevant, but Douglas instincts and reflexes are top notch. Douglas finished fourth in the NFL with five interceptions last season despite playing in only 12 games. .I want to be All-Pro and I want to win Defensive Player of the Year. Thats just my two goals right now, he said. Packers Injury Report , four players practiced for the first time during training camp. One of them was outside linebacker Randy Ramsey, who was in position to make the Los Angeles Rams Women Jersey roster in 2021 before a major ankle injury. .Its been a long proce s, he said. I was just happy to get that green light. Around this time last year, I got hurt during the fifth practice. Going from not being able to walk for two months to now, thats just a big motivation for me. So, Im just glad to be back out there with the guys.Returned to practice: WR Sammy Watkins (hamstring), T Rasheed Walker (foot), OLB Randy Ramsey (ankle), DT Akial Byers (hamstring).New Injuries: None.Old injuries: WR Malik Taylor (shoulder) Non-Football Injury List: CB Keisean Nixon (groin).Physically unable to perform list: K Mason Crosby (knee), WR Christian Watson (knee), RB Kylin Hill (knee), LT David Bakhtiari (knee), OL Elgton Jenkins (knee), TE Robert Tonyan (knee). Packers Depth Chart Notes- As was the case on Day 1 of camp, the No. 1 offensive line was Yosh Nijman at left tackle, Jon Runyan at left guard, Josh Myers at center, Jake Hanson (pictured) at right guard and Royce Newman at right tackle. On Day 2, rookie Zach Tom was the left tackle, Newman was back at home at right guard and David Long Jr. Jersey Nijman was the right tackle.I know its a different game, but hes done it in college and hes got the athleticism and hes got great technique, coach Matt LaFleur said of Tom. For what he lacks maybe in sheer size, he can really sink his hips and anchor and does a great job with that.- For the first two practices, Jack Coco had the first snap during field goals. On Friday, it was incumbent Steven Wirtel. There was no live kicking, only the snap, hold and protection.- Rich Bisaccia worked on kickoff and kickoff return. Speedster cornerback Rico Gafford got the first shot at returner, with receivers Amari Rodgers, Romeo Doubs, Ishmael Hyman and Danny Davis and running back Aaron Jones part of the rotation. Players who were with the first unit on both phases: Gafford, safety Dallin Leavitt, tight end Josiah Deguara, linebacker Isaiah McDuffie, tight end Tyler Davis and outside linebacker Tipa Galeai. Packers Training Camp Schedule- After Fridays practice was closed to fans, practices on Saturday, Monday, Tuesday and Thursday will be open to the public.
